Please help me support Hogs for the Cause, and families with children battling brain cancer all over the country, by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar raised will advance Hogs for the Cause's great cause! Together, we can make a difference!
Captain Porkenheimer is back for our “16th YEAR SMOKIN’!” at the annual Hogs for the Cause - Ben Sarrat Jr. High on the Hog Pork Cook-Off, happening Friday, April 4, 2025, and Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena (hogsforthecause.org).
We are incredibly grateful for your past donations and sponsorships—your support has made a real difference in the lives of families battling pediatric brain cancer. If you haven’t participated yet, 2025 is the year to join the Captain Porkenheimer and Hogs family!
Why We Do This
Since its humble beginnings in 2009, Hogs for the Cause has grown into one of the largest BBQ competitions and music festivals in the country, all while staying true to its mission: providing grants to families of children fighting pediatric brain cancer. These grants help cover costs not covered by insurance, such as travel expenses, meals, and home modifications to accommodate children’s needs.
Your donations directly impact these families, easing some of the financial burdens that come with an already overwhelming battle. Every dollar raised matters.
Our Team
Captain Porkenheimer has been competing at Hogs for the Cause since the very first event and is one of the longest-standing teams in the competition. With 30+ dedicated amateur cooks, we combine great food, great fun, and great fundraising! We are also a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, so all donations are tax-deductible (porkenheimer.org).
Not only does cancer take an enormous toll on the mental and physical health of the patients and its family members – it also has a tremendous financial impact. The costs associated with childhood cancer make it a struggle for families to get by and meet their needs while also being able to get their child to lifesaving treatment. For families already living in poverty, these difficulties are often multiplied.
