BBQ, Big Hearts, and Beating Childhood Cancer

What started in 2016 as a group of amateur BBQers with a good excuse to hang out has turned into a mission to raise real money for a real fight.
We’re a Louisiana-based 501(c)(3) competing again at Hogs for the Cause to support families battling pediatric brain cancer.
Because this isn’t just a health crisis—it’s a financial gut punch no family should face alone.
Hogs for the Cause steps in with direct grants, housing through Hogs Houses so families can stay close during treatment, and funding cutting-edge HemOnc units across the country. They’re also pushing research forward—because “good enough” isn’t good enough when it comes to kids.
To date, Hogs has donated over $5.6 million. Lard and In Charge has raised nearly $100,000—and we’re not slowing down.
Somewhere along the way, we also got pretty good at BBQ.
We’ve won Bacon Night (yes, deep-fried bacon-wrapped plantains were involved) and were named 2021 High-on-the-Hog Grand Champions—beating teams with bigger budgets, better gear, and far more confidence.
This year, I’m taking pork belly on an identity crisis tour—turning it into pastrami and entering it into the “anything goes” category… what could possibly go wrong?
At the end of the day, this isn’t about trophies.
It’s about showing up for families who didn’t ask for this fight.
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could do something”—this is it.
Donate. Share. Show up.
Together, we can do something GREAT.
