MAHJ FOR A CAUSE: PART THREE
December 9th
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
— Arthur Ashe
Mahj for a Cause is back for round three! On December 9th, we’ll gather around the mahjong tables for a cause that has meant so much to my family for more than 15 years.
Hogs for the Cause and Team Fleur de Que have been an important part of our lives since 2010. My husband, Rob, is a HOG of FAMER, and my boys, Hartson and Maddox, were proud Lil’ Smokies. Last year, Hartson hosted FDQ York, a fundraiser in New York City which he is doing again, as well as FDQ District held in Washington DC. Maddox organized a fundraiser with live music at Washington & Lee as well, and hope he will do it again in 2027. Watching them find their own ways to support this cause has made it even more special.
Over the years, Hogs and Fleur de Que have given us wonderful friendships, so much joy, and a shared sense of purpose. We have plenty of great memories (the ones that weren’t washed away by Bushwhackers & Purple Dranks!) from the early festivals at City Pork and late-night dancing at Friday night parties to celebrating the opening of two Hogs Houses and watching our booth, our team, and Hogs grow each year.
But the reason we keep coming back goes far beyond the fun.
When a child faces cancer, the whole family feels the impact. Alongside the fear and uncertainty come financial pressures that no family should have to face alone. Hogs for the Cause helps ease that burden through direct financial grants, free housing at Hogs Houses, and hospital projects that support children and their families.
That’s why I’m hosting Mahj for a Cause for the third time. It’s my way of taking something I love and using it to help families who need support—and I’d love for you to be part of it.
Please consider making a donation and sharing this page with friends and family. Whether you’re joining us at the mahjong table or cheering us on from afar, every gift helps us give back to a cause that has given our family so much.
Together we can do something GREAT!
